Our design team worked on and off for four years creating this beautiful, expansive wine country estate that offers countless options for relaxation, sport and entertainment — all enclosed within a fully operational apple orchard.

We planned the landscaping on a north-south axis founded on the principles of the ancient Persian Paradise gardens.  Formal allées are lined with olive trees, lavender and Italian cypresses. The rose garden is framed by boxwood hedges and makes a wonderful juxtaposition to the oak forest below.

The main home, and a series of guest houses, are served by a plethora of outdoor activity amenities for the avid sports practitioner owners: an Olympic-size swimming pool, a children’s play area, tennis and basketball courts, croquet, shuffleboard, horseshoe pits and bocce ball.

For the landscaping, we pulled together a vernacular style that blends the Arts & Crafts architecture of the property with a desire for Mediterranean-style gardens. A gracious lawn area faces out towards a magnificent stand of native oaks, creating a natural amphitheater; the pool is surrounded by Spanish travertine stone; we created fountains and pergolas; and a poured-in-place spa and heated baby pool are adorned with tile mosaics by a local Sebastopol artist.

The outdoor dining area is defined by a large bluestone terrace, and features concrete countertops, wrought-iron railings, and custom reclaimed wood cabinetry crafted in our own workshop.
